The Restoration Asheville Hotel Front

A Hotel Review of The Restoration Asheville

We stayed at The Restoration Asheville during our recent trip to Asheville, NC, and it was the perfect home base for the four nights we spent exploring the mountains, the breweries, and the downtown food scene. This boutique hotel sits right on Patton Avenue in the heart of downtown, and it delivered on every front — location, design, and service.

Downtown Asheville Location

You really can’t beat where The Restoration Asheville sits. It’s downtown, so restaurants, boutiques, galleries, and nightlife are all within walking distance. We used that walkability constantly, whether we were heading out for dinner or just wandering the shops nearby. And when we wanted to venture further out to the Blue Ridge Mountains or Pisgah National Forest for hiking, it was still just a short drive away.

Hotel Rooms & Design

Every accommodation here is a suite, which meant we had a lot more room to spread out and relax than we would have in a standard hotel room. The design leans into Asheville’s creative, mountain-inspired spirit — natural materials, warm tones, and modern finishes that still feel boutique rather than corporate. It was an elevated stay that matched the occasion (we were there celebrating our one-year elopement anniversary).

Hotel Staff & Service

The hotel’s service was very helpful upon arrival. The valet parking service in particular was excellent. The reason the valet service really stood out to us was the fact that the staff were extremely knowledgeable about the area. We talked to several of the valet drivers about hiking in the area and the downtown scene. They also had a very easy-to-use texting method for when we were ready for our car.

Since parking is tight in Asheville, I do recommend leveraging this service. I also felt that our car might be a bit more secure in the valet lot rather than parked on the street somewhere. The hotel also has a Jeep service, which when available, you can schedule for rides around town within a certain radius. We didn’t use the Jeep service, but knew it was an option, which was great.

Hotel Dining & Amenities

The property is packed with places to eat, drink, and unwind without ever leaving the hotel. There’s a restaurant next to the main lobby called The Watch Kitchen & Spirits, a rooftop bar called The Observatory overlooking the city and mountains, and a cozy underground bar with vintage arcade games called The Draftsman

We didn’t get a chance to eat at these restaurants, as there were others in the area that we had already planned to visit, but the setting was nice and they looked very convenient. I had wanted to get a cocktail at the rooftop bar after dinner, but it was fully booked every night we were there with weddings (understandably, since it’s a gorgeous venue).

We really enjoyed the daily wine + cheese social, which was held every day in the late afternoon and it was a relaxing way to unwind after a long day of hiking and exploring. Additionally, the hotel’s breakfast service was adorable and worked really well for us. Rather than a buffet style breakfast, the hotel brings you a basket of breakfast items directly to your door every morning. What’s in the basket changes daily, but it typically consists of fruit, yogurt and a pastry of some sort. We had coffee and tea in our room, and the quality of the coffee and tea was actually excellent – not at all what you typically experience with in-room coffee. This breakfast service worked well for us because it let us have breakfast quickly while we got ready for a day of hiking or exploring The Biltmore.

Our Verdict

The Restoration Asheville is a fantastic choice if you want a downtown home base with boutique design, spacious suites, and easy walkability to everything Asheville has to offer. It’s a 4-star hotel with the amenities and polish to match, and it made for a memorable stay during a special trip for us. We’d absolutely stay here again.
